Das Gebäudeprogramm is the most important funding instrument for heating replacement in Switzerland. It is run jointly by the Federal Office of Energy and the cantonal energy funding offices, and it is financed by the CO2 levy on fossil fuels. Anyone replacing an oil or gas heating system with a heat pump can apply for a flat-rate contribution.
Applications always go through the canton where the building is located. The federal website has a funding portal that lets you filter by canton and measure, plus a fact sheet with the current subsidy amounts. Applications must be submitted before construction starts; retroactive contributions are generally excluded.
